December's Visitor

Christmas is a gift. A wonderful mirror in which each of us is still a child.

Where looking again through children's eyes, bring back with sparkling clarity,

the things our heart has cherished and never quite outgrown.

Christmas songs we knew by heart and thought we had forgotten

come floating back in harmony for us to sing once again.
Cookies shaped like trees and stars are better than the greatest feast ever prepared.

It's always Christmas in the heart. Such memories we keep there.

The smell of a homemade apple pie cooling on the kitchen table

Or the feel for a Christmas sweater made of the softest wool.

Even the sound a reindeer makes tiptoeing across

a snowy roof still lingers in our hearts.

Love is the magic ingredient of Christmas.

It fills up our packages; turns an ordinary sock into a Christmas stocking

And small pines transform into large Christmas trees.

Christmas is a holiday that only love could make.

Where mistletoe invites a kiss and thoughtful gifts of comfort and warmth

remind us that we are loved. Arms hold on tighter. Hearts open wider.

Families just seem to multiply because

Christmas means little with no one to share it with.

Always keep a special place in your heart for Santa Claus, too!

Believing in Santa is not infantile, for Santa exists in every gift and every smile.

Santa is alive in those red-suited elves and Santa Claus lives in our hearts and in ourselves.

Santa lives on in our thoughts and in our prayers. Santa can simply be someone who cares.

Don't ever apologize for loving Santa as much as he loves you.

After all, for those who don't want to believe in Santa,

No amount of proof would ever be enough. But, for friends like you,

Who believe what they know to be true in their hearts, no further proof is necessary.

When Christmas comes calling with pageant and wings

With ribbons and holly and popcorn on strings

When Christmas visits your house with carols and bells

With sparkling trees and gingerbread smells

Open the door and be a good host

Open your heart and make it the most...

The most wonderful time of the year.

Clement Moore was the first to write these words we find so dear,

and they can't be improved upon, so I'll conclude with them here:

"Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!"
