The Spirit of Santa Claus
Santa Claus does not sit on a
throne on a float in a parade.
Santa Claus is not the
tired-looking man selling his image at the mall.
Santa Claus is not a product of
Madison Avenue.
Santa Claus is a product of the
heart.
Santa's face can shine through
only when I hide mine.
I draw attention to my eyes
because that is where children will enter.
Becoming Santa can make a
mess of your December.
Being Santa has transformed
the rest of my
life.
Santa Claus is fat.
You would be, too, if you ate as
many cookies as I do.
Santa's size is one of the
reasons children love him.
Santa is well aware of how funny
his big belly looks in a bright red suit.
Santa does not take anyone,
including myself, too seriously.
If Santa worried about his
weight, he would take up jogging.
Instead, he prefers to travel
by sleigh.
"Ho! Ho! Ho!" is not a legitimate
laugh.
Any six year old can tell you
that. Santa does not feel obligated to laugh.
He
laughs when he thinks
something is funny and when he thinks something
is funny,
he laughs until he's red in the face.
Santa is not embarrassed to laugh
at his own jokes. It's a beautiful thing to
watch!
Santa never calls ahead.
Surprise gives strength to a magical being.
I have dropped in from the clouds
with one simple philosophy:
Thoughtfulness is a
gift and the most thoughtful gifts are
unexpected.
A thoughtful gift says,
"I know
you."
This is not about me, it is about
sharing with others.
There was a time in your life when
you cared more about magic than logic
And you believed in an overweight
man who flies with reindeer.
Then you grew up and exchanged
knowing glances with other adults
As you perpetuated
"The Myth."
But you never really stopped
believing
You just thought you did...
There is a little bit of Santa
Claus in all of us
He's seen in the smiles the whole
world is sharing.
He's found where there's
friendship and loving and caring.
He's felt in the warm handshakes
when people are meeting.
He’s heard in the cheer of a
Christmas time greeting.
His spirit is behind all the
gifts we receive.
He's everywhere, always... to those
who believe.
